Walking into Silence with Roz Robinson:

 

Gayles is set in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty; for many miles around there is rolling downland, sheltering forest and magnificent coastal scenery, room to breathe and space to centre yourself. Roz has an intimate knowledge of the countryside around and is facilitating a weekend of silence, walks, yoga, meditation and connection. This is a wonderful opportunity to nourish and restore both heart and mind.

Roz is the resident teacher at Gayles. She has an open, grounded and warm approach; her practice is gentle, deep and rewarding. You can expect a special weekend where you will be guided through some of the most beautiful landscape in England safely held in silence with the time and space to allow you to explore your self and to reconnect with the world. This is a retreat to revive, calm and inspire you and is suitable for both experienced practitioners and people new to yoga, meditation and/or to silence.

The main walk, when we will also begin the silence, will be on Saturday and is a little over five hours long over terrain that is quite steep in places although Roz takes care to keep to a comfortable pace and to include breaks to allow you to absorb the views. If you are of average fitness you should be able to manage comfortably (we will not be training for the Olympics!). There will also be the opportunity to swim at the beach (tide and weather permitting) and in the outdoor pool at Gayles. The silence will end when we arrive back from the beach after a shorter walk on Sunday morning.

The teaching is offered on a donation-only basis and you will be given the opportunity to make your contribution at the end of the weekend. The cost for (dormitory) accommodation and (vegetarian) meals, including refreshments, is £140 for the whole retreat (Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon).

This retreat is open to everyone, however, please bear in mind that the walks will be long. Please also remember that a retreat needs to be approached with a degree of care and respect, both for ourselves and for others, and we ask that you participate fully in the schedule. This creates a strong ‘container’ for the powerful transformative experience that being on retreat can be.

How to register

To register please email us and we will send you a booking form for you to complete and return to us. Please then also pay a (non-refundable) deposit of £80 to secure your place. We will confirm your registration with you when we receive your payment. We ask that you pay the balance two weeks before the event. You can find the payment details on our booking form.
