Retreats in silence involve removing as many of the distractions of normal everyday life as possible. We ask you to turn off and put away your mobile phones and digital devices when you are here. Most of the retreat is in silence with opportunities for you to voice any questions or requests you might have. Roz will be on hand guiding you through all of the practices throughout the retreat.
Silence might seem strange and a little intimidating if you haven’t experienced it before. Many people feel anxious the first time and that is to be expected; it is a new and very different experience. But many participants come back having loved it and only very occasionally do people find it overly challenging. There is so much to learn about oneself in the process of a retreat which would be missed if we were busy talking to one another.
This retreat is a wonderful opportunity to step back from the distractions and responsibilities of life and to nurture yourself with the practices offered over the course of the weekend in beautiful surroundings at Gayles.
